This is brutal; I’m 10 1/2 weeks, losing weight, eating very little, throwing up a LOT. I’m violently sick pretty much every day, sometimes several times a day. I’m keeping well hydrated so- I don’t have to go to the doctor right? (My family doc is on vacation for a month so I’d have to go to Emerg.) I can barely leave bed, let alone the house. My husband has to go grocery shopping, etc. I’ve been like this for EIGHT weeks. the vomiting started a few days after conception.
Anyway this is miserable. I can throw up consecutively for minutes at a time, and it’s hard to breathe, and I get beet red and my whole body gets cold and sweaty. After I throw up I’m often shivering uncontrollably for an hour and my teeth chatter and I feel hot and flushed and I get dizzy and very weak. I worry about not getting the right nutrients. I worry about getting worse and the doctor putting me on meds- (they put me an an antinauseant called Diclectin and I threw it up every time so I had to stop taking it.)
How did you guys cope? How long did it last for you? Did you get this with every pregnancy or just one? What I can’t understand is, if you have other children, how do you take care of them? I physically wouldn’t be able to run after a rambunctious two year old. Even sitting here typing is an effort right now and I can’t wait to lie down again. And I am not a wuss! I’m no stranger to being sick. I’m scared because we want more kids, but I can’t see how I’d be able to look after my firstborn if I get this sick next time. Especially since this seems to be getting worse- if I get to the point where I can’t keep fluids down (which I can see happening) I’ll have to be admitted to hospital.
Thanks for your advice :)
this is our first pregnancy. :)
